The short answer on clear aligners.
Clear aligners are a series of removable clear trays, each worn about a week, that move teeth gradually into a planned position. Most cases take six to eighteen months and are used for crowding, spacing, and relapse after childhood braces.
We scan your teeth and build a digital plan, so you can see the projected movement before you commit to anything. If your case needs traditional braces to get a good result, we'll tell you rather than stretch aligners past what they do well.
Wear time is the whole game. Twenty to twenty-two hours a day is what the plan assumes. Taking them out for long lunches and evenings is the single reason cases run over schedule.
Who needs clear aligners?
If any of these sound familiar, it's worth a conversation. Renew Dental Loft sees patients from Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Roselle and Streamwood seven days a week.
- Your front teeth have crowded again since childhood braces
- You have gaps you'd like closed
- Your bite feels uneven or one tooth sticks out
- You want straightening that doesn't show at work
- You're planning veneers and want to reduce how much tooth needs shaping
What to expect at your appointment.
Times are estimates. We see one patient at a time, so nothing here happens while your dentist is working in another room.

How much does clear aligners cost in Schaumburg?
We don't publish a price, because quoting a number before we've looked at your mouth would be a guess. Here's what actually moves the figure, and how to get a real one.
- Cost depends on complexity: a minor front-tooth correction costs far less than a full bite correction
- The number of aligner trays and the treatment length are the main drivers
- Some PPO plans include an orthodontic benefit that applies to aligners, often with a lifetime maximum
- Retainers at the end are a separate, smaller cost, and they are not optional
We file claims with most major PPO plans. If you're uninsured, our membership plan is $499 or $699 a year and includes exams, X-rays and cleanings plus a discount on treatment. See what the membership plan covers.

Clear Aligners questions, answered.
Six to eighteen months for most cases, with minor front-tooth corrections sometimes finishing in three to four months. Complex bite problems take longer or need braces instead. We give you an estimated number of trays and a finish date once the digital plan is ready.
Twenty to twenty-two hours, every day. You take them out to eat and to brush, and that's it. Consistent wear is what keeps the plan on schedule. Falling short by a few hours a day is the most common reason treatment runs months longer than quoted.
Each new tray feels tight and your teeth are tender for a day or two, which tells you they're moving. Most people describe it as pressure rather than pain, and over-the-counter pain relief handles it. Switching trays before bed means you sleep through the worst of it.
Yes, permanently, and this isn't negotiable if you want to keep the result. Teeth drift back throughout life. Most patients wear a retainer nightly for the first year, then a few nights a week indefinitely. Retainers cost a fraction of redoing treatment.
Water only. Anything else, including coffee and soda, either stains the trays or feeds bacteria trapped against your enamel. Take them out, eat, brush or at least rinse, then put them back in. It becomes automatic within a week.
