The short answer on veneers.
A veneer is a thin shell of porcelain bonded to the front surface of a tooth to change its color, shape or position. Treatment usually takes two to three visits over three or four weeks, and it's used for chips, permanent stains, small gaps and uneven edges.
We start with photos and a conversation about what actually bothers you, then design the shape around your lip line and how much tooth shows when you talk. The shade discussion comes last, not first.
Veneers are irreversible on most teeth, because a thin layer of enamel is removed so they sit flush. We'll tell you honestly if bonding, whitening or aligners would get you most of the result without that.
Who needs veneers?
If any of these sound familiar, it's worth a conversation. Renew Dental Loft sees patients from Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Roselle and Streamwood seven days a week.
- One front tooth is chipped or a different shape from its twin
- Whitening hasn't touched deep internal staining
- You have small gaps between your front teeth
- Your front teeth are worn short and look uneven
- You've had bonding repeatedly repaired and want something more durable
What to expect at your appointment.
Times are estimates. We see one patient at a time, so nothing here happens while your dentist is working in another room.

What veneers changes.
Changes shape and shade together
Whitening only changes color. Veneers can fix form as well.
Stain resistant
Porcelain doesn't pick up coffee and wine stains the way composite bonding does.
You see it first
The mock-up and temporaries let you live with the shape before it's final.
Long lasting
Well-cared-for porcelain veneers commonly last ten to fifteen years or more.
How much does veneers cost in Schaumburg?
We don't publish a price, because quoting a number before we've looked at your mouth would be a guess. Here's what actually moves the figure, and how to get a real one.
- Veneers are priced per tooth, so cost scales directly with how many you have
- Porcelain costs more than composite bonding and lasts considerably longer
- Insurance almost never covers veneers placed for appearance
- Membership members receive a discount, and you get a written total before anything is prepared
We file claims with most major PPO plans. If you're uninsured, our membership plan is $499 or $699 a year and includes exams, X-rays and cleanings plus a discount on treatment. See what the membership plan covers.

Veneers questions, answered.
It depends on how many teeth show when you smile broadly, which for most people is six to ten on the upper arch. Sometimes two on the front teeth is genuinely enough. We take photos at the consultation and show you where the natural stopping point is.
Traditional veneers require removing a thin layer of enamel, usually around half a millimetre, and that doesn't grow back, so the tooth always needs a covering afterwards. Some cases suit minimal-prep designs. We measure and tell you exactly how much your teeth would need.
Commonly ten to fifteen years, and often longer with good care. They chip if you grind or bite hard objects, so a night guard is standard advice if you clench. The bond at the gum margin is the part we watch at your checkups.
Yes, if you plan to whiten at all. Porcelain doesn't change shade, so we match the veneers to your natural teeth at their final color. Whitening afterwards would leave the veneers looking darker than everything around them.
Yes. We use photos and a mock-up so you can see the proposed shape in your own mouth, and you wear temporaries in that shape between appointments. If something bothers you about the length or shape, that's the moment to change it.
