The short answer on dental exams.
A dental exam is a structured check of your teeth, gums, bite, jaw joints and the soft tissue in your mouth. It usually takes fifteen to twenty-five minutes and is used at every routine visit, and any time you have a new symptom you can't explain.
We chart each tooth, measure the pockets around your gums, review your X-rays and check your tongue, cheeks and throat. Then we tell you what we saw, in order of urgency.
You'll leave knowing what needs doing now, what we're watching, and what can wait. If there's nothing wrong, we say that too.
Who needs dental exams?
If any of these sound familiar, it's worth a conversation. Renew Dental Loft sees patients from Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Roselle and Streamwood seven days a week.

- Something feels off but you can't point to a specific tooth
- You've avoided the dentist for years and want to know where you stand
- You want a second opinion on a treatment plan from another office
What to expect at your appointment.
Times are estimates. We see one patient at a time, so nothing here happens while your dentist is working in another room.

How much does dental exams cost in Schaumburg?
We don't publish a price, because quoting a number before we've looked at your mouth would be a guess. Here's what actually moves the figure, and how to get a real one.
- For new patients, the exam is part of our $229 visit with X-rays and a cleaning
- A focused emergency exam for one problem tooth costs less than a comprehensive exam
- Exams are covered at or near 100% by most PPO plans, typically twice a year
- Membership plan members get all clinical and emergency exams included
We file claims with most major PPO plans. If you're uninsured, our membership plan is $499 or $699 a year and includes exams, X-rays and cleanings plus a discount on treatment. See what the membership plan covers.

Dental Exams questions, answered.
The exam itself runs fifteen to twenty-five minutes. Booked with X-rays and a cleaning, expect to be with us for about an hour. Comprehensive first visits for someone who hasn't been in a decade can run longer, and we'll flag that when you book.
A comprehensive exam is the full baseline: every tooth charted, gum pockets measured, bite and soft tissue checked. A periodic checkup is the shorter six-month update against that baseline. New patients get the comprehensive version so we know what normal looks like for you.
No. Bitewing X-rays are typically taken every one to two years for adults with healthy teeth, more often if you get frequent cavities. A full series is usually every three to five years. We take images when they'll change a decision, not on a schedule.
We'll rank the findings by urgency and tell you honestly what can wait. Pain and infection come first, then things that will get worse, then optional work. We'll also show you what the membership plan or a payment arrangement would do to the number.
Yes, and plenty of families do. Tell us when you book so we can allow the room and time. Parents are welcome to stay beside their child through the whole exam.
